Guide: Made-to-Measure

Made-to-measure
PROCESS

The Peur Oslo Made-to-Measure process is not unlike that of bespoke – just less time consuming and particular.

It all starts with your consultation with our expert tailor. Here we will find exactly what you are looking for and give you the right guidance in order to get the perfect suit. The cost of a Made-to-Measure suit varies in ranges from a few thousand NOK to several tens of thousands NOK.

The consultation process entails making many decisions. To be able to be as effective as possible, it is favorable to have done some research prior to your consultation. Pinterest and Instagram might be two good sources to use in order to set up a mood board of the kind of suit you’d like.

Our expert tailor will be of great assistance in terms of offering advice. Here at Peur we will gently push towards making a decision based off experts guidance and your wished styles. A guide will vary based on whether your suit is to be an everyday suit or for cocktail attire e.g. Is it for summer period usage or colder period, or both? and many other parameters that define choice of color, fabric and extra choices.

1. FABRICS

FABRICS

Choosing your fabric is the first step and you typically choose from a range of hundreds and thousands of various type of fabrics. The choice is in general a matter of weight – where durability and comfortability is depending on the combination of fitting guide and fabrics selection.

Another object to ensure you select during fabric selection is the colour and pattern; check, birdseye, pinstripe and so on. The fabric selection is the primary driving force of the cost of your suit.

During fabric selection you can also endulge into various choices in terms of the construction of you suits; from half-lined, to fully-canvassed.

2. MEASUREMENT

THE PERFECT FITTING

This is where you connect with your expert tailor more intimately.

Your tailor will take several measurements – chest, waist, hip, legs, hems and much more. In this part you will also take on a suit based on preferred construction/style; RegularFit, ComfortFit, ItalianFit or SlimFit.

Be prepared to be looked at for several minutes: as your tailor will be assessing several factors. Your build, posture, symmetry etc.

3. THE DETAILS

PERSONALISE YOUR SUIT

The final part of the consultation is to ensure you personalise your suit with the correct guidance for our expert tailor. This is the most time consuming part. Options range from lapel styles, number of buttons in the fastening; belt loops, side adjusters or brace buttons; cuffs or plain finish; type of pockets; pocket flaps or none; and so on.

Once these are all decided on, your part in this process is more or less done. Now you can happily leave the matters to us. Production of a Made-to-Measure suit is not an overnight process – so please plan well in advance if you need the suit for a specific date. Lead time range from 4-6 weeks.

All suits include one fitting session once the suit is finally produced. This in order to ensure all details are perfectly fitting to your liking. Some fabrics can have different proportions and affect on cutting and hence need some more adjustment post production than other. Some people also gain/lose weight over the periode of time which also effects the suits fitting.
